Taxes are a **core mechanic** that keeps towns and nations running.

### 🏡 Town Taxes

#### What are Town Taxes?

Residents pay daily taxes to the town bank.

**Purpose:**

* Maintain land claims
* Prevent town deletion
* Fund expansion

## 🪙Town Taxes

**💵 Flat Tax**

* Same amount for every resident
* Example: 10% every day.
  * Players will be charged everyday at 9am EST.

#### What Happens If Taxes Aren’t Paid?

* Player can go into **debt**
* Eventually gets **kicked from town**
* Town can lose land if upkeep isn’t paid

To Set Town Tax, use the following command.

/town set taxes [amount]
```
